Weekend Trip to D.C.

The weekend before Jessica left, we (me, Jessica and Charlotte) decided to go to D.C. for the weekend. I had been to all of these sites before, almost 10 years ago, but I felt it was time to see them all again. I am so glad I did.
The Grand Hyatt where we enjoyed a lovely stay

You don't even know how happy I was to have air conditioning.
We arrived in D.C. about 1:30 and went to meet a fellow BYU PR student for lunch at Good Stuff.
Really good hamburgers and fries. An amazing toasted marshmallow shake which i didn't buy but tried Jessicas. It literally tasted like fire-roasted marshmallows. YUM.

We headed right up to the Capitol Building, the Library of Congress and walked past the Supreme Court. I don't know why but I was obsessed with the clouds there. They were so beautiful. I guess i enjoyed seeing the blue sky for a change.

We then proceeded to the Washington National Monument, the World War II Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial and Albert Einsteins Statue.

That night, despite a most comfortable bed, I had a hard time sleeping because I heard a loud group of people partying for HOURS. Of course the other girls were fast asleep. I heard hotel security come tell them to be quiet and after about another hour they were. That morning Jessica and Charlotte got up early to go to Arlington Cemetery, The Unknown Soldiers Tomb and the Eternal Flame. Since it was all stuff I had seen I wanted to take advantage of a nice cold room and comfortable bed before heading back to my un-air-conditioned closet bedroom. We had to catch the bus at 6 pm to head back at NYC so we tried to fit in as much as we could. We went to the Smithsonian American History Museum, The Portrait Gallery and Ford's Theater.

It was a quick but very busy trip. It was absolutely wonderful. My favorite part was seeing the original U.S. Flag. It was breathtaking.

I am really missing this little cowboy.
