The Wicked Never Sleep

I am not feeling so hot tonight..i feel a sore throat coming on. So what better way to not sleep than to recap my week.
Last Friday we went to the MoMA. It was certainly provocative, sometimes cheesy, sometimes breathtaking...call me old fashioned but the Met is more my cup of tea. I am not really into the mumbo jumbo (aka this old toilet is a work of art sorta deal) However I am a fan of Matisse, Pollock, Monet, Van Gogh and a few others.

After the museum we went to a little hamburger joint inside of the Le Parker Meridien Hotel. I saw Christopher Gorham outside..No joke. Let me just say New Yorkers don't know burgers...all that hype for that? Regardless, we went to Rice to Riches after that and all was right again in the world.

Saturday was our big work event and some of my friends were so awesome and wonderful and helped out. They are so amazing. I won't post pictures of that because its embarrassing.
After we were real tuckered out and starving so we went to a little Harlem gold mine called Lolita. By far the best mexican food I've had here (and the only Mexican food..but still it was amazing!)

That literally tasted like what I imagine heaven would taste like. I got the poblano enchiladas. steak enchiladas with mole sauce...ahh...afterwards I think we walked around by Wall Street. We were going to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge but got tired. I got an awesome skyline pic though.

View from the balcony on Sunday.

Monday we went to a little ramen place called Totto Ramen. It was pretty good. I feel like I have explored all the Asian food and now I am ready to try Mediterranean, Turkish, Indian, Greek..and of course I am always on the look for good italian. Below is also a cool building I saw down by 5th ave.

Tuesday I don't remember besides the fact is was storming a lot. I took a pic of the weather forecast. The awesome night picture was taken by Gabe that night on the balcony. And if I thought the sweating I did here in the first week was bad? Now i have to get used to constantly feeling damp and wanting to shower three times a day. We haven't even hit the high temps either..

Wednesday we went to the 9/11 memorial. Some people didn't want to go because they had been before but in all honestly I would go everyday if i could. It was a spiritual experience. You almost feel dizzy looking at the new buildings because they are so tall. I am grateful that so much effort was taken to commemorate the lives that were lost. The impact of what happened that day honestly didn't really hit me until I was there and walking around the site. My favorite part was the tree that survived that 9/11. It was singed from the fires but nursed back to health, uprooted during a storm but it survived and was rooted again. I think it is the perfect way to envision America. We have hope. We don't give up. We fight for our freedom.

Friday was a busy day. We went to the Natural History Museum, ate at Lombardis and walked the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a pretty awesome day.

Look how well they posed for me!!!
Ancient giant frog. The size of a modern day crocodile.
I hiked the mountains in Utah and stumbled upon this view... ;)
I got the White Pizza. No sauce, just mozzarella, romano, ricotta, garlic infused oil, pepper and fresh basil. UMMMAHzing.
I got a cute little leather bracelet at the little market in little italy on Mulberry St.

I know saturday was just yesterday but I can't remember what we did besides eat....oops. We went to this little place in Harlem called Charlies. They had really decently priced and yummy sushi. NO ONE in NYC has fountain soda and its starting to tick me off. Whats a girl gotta do to get a big gulp? For dessert we wanted to go to Serendipity but there was an hour and a half wait so we went to Dylans Candy Bar. Also yum. After that we rode on the tram. Pretty sure I shed a few tears. I was terrified.

This evening we took a stroll through Central Park. I absolutely loved it. My sister asked why people here would rather have a big park than their own yard and I said because its huge, green, amazing and people prune it for you!

For dinner we went to Miss Mamie's. Get in my belly you Soul Food!

Yeah I feel like this is more of a food blog but jeeze...what do you expect?
Side note...I have been keeping so busy that by the end of the week I feel like this. (off the clock mind you)
Secondly, I saw this on the bus and had to get a picture.. Yes that is a hoodie with wings on the back and a mane and ears on the hood.

Lastly...I am really missing my little babies...
I mean look at that face..that smile is melting my heart into a lump!

OH and one more thing. This is me in 40 years..
