Thursday. I wasn't feeling well so I didn't go out.
Friday. Right before Jessica came down to my room before work I barfed on my bedroom floor. Being me I didn't want to miss work so I said I was fine and I'd go anyways. A couple hours into the day I turned green while riding a double bus..on which i happened to pick the worst place to sit. (ask Jessica..so I'm sure that didn't help). A little later we were eating lunch with our boss on the first official full day of work and I ran into the bathroom when she is in there and said "You better get out I'm about to start barfing in here." If anyone could top my first week work experience please let me know. I felt so awful (literally and figuratively) for getting sick but she was so great and understanding. I spent the rest of the night in bed and felt so much better by late Saturday afternoon.
Saturday in the early evening we went to the Met. I WAS SO EXCITED.
These were my favorite pieces..I am annoyed right now because I don't know how turn them right side up...
This was a statue of Angel Gabriel. It was so beautiful and peaceful.
I loved this piece because to me it was one of the more ethereal and lifelike portrayals of Mary and baby Jesus
We decided if I was a warrior I would have this bunny helmet. So fierce.
The coats of armor were so cool
I am like a little kid and this Englishman's armor with the poofy butt made me laugh.
They had really intricate and cool guns..and bow staffs..
This was my favorite statue (so far) so graceful
I am pretty much obsessed with this Tiffany window. Most likely designed by Northrop. It is literally breath taking in person.
If I was a rich person in Old England that would have been my chandelier.
We only stayed for maybe two hours before we got hungry. We thought sushi sounded good so we looked up a reasonable place with good reviews. We ended up at Neo Sushi near the Upper East Side. It wasn't bad at all. I even got an Oyster roll for kicks and giggles. It was REAL good.
Candid shot of Jess and Gabe

After dinner we wandered the streets for a bit and then got hungry for dessert so we stopped in a place called Two Red Hens. It reminded me of my mom because it was French Country themed with brick and cute red hens everywhere. It wasn't as good as Molly's Cupcakes but...my red velvet was pretty dang good. (Mom, still not as good as yours though.)
Sunday I got to sleep in. Church was at 1 pm. The ward seems really nice, a good variety of people, though pretty small in numbers. Church in New York is a lot different...We aren't in Kansas anymore. (Metaphorically speaking)
Monday. I don't remember anything about it except that we ate the BEST BBQ I have ever had (besides my dads). It was called Dinosaur BBQ and Jessica and I happened to see it when we were by the Hudson River doing some work. Of course I forgot my camera but essentially they had everything you could dream of and everything looks and tastes delicious. I had to try a few things (I had to report to my dad on it so of course I couldn't not). I tried fried green tomatoes for the first time. (YUM) I got the Rib and Texas Beef Brisket plate. YUM. The brisket had the most amazing BBQ sauce on it and a special twist of pickled jalapenos. UM AMAZING. I had a realllllly hard time picking two sides so I decided to get something I normally don't order. I had these amazing little round potatoes (not red) in a butter, garlic and herb sauce, and the baked beans had pulled pork and jalapeƱos in them. HEAVEN. The mac and cheese looked amazing. I tried someones sweet potato it was out of this world. Needless to say we will be back...A LOT. We then went to this awesome market called Fairway. It had every kind of fruit, multiple varieties, cheeses, seafood. Everything. And it all looked fresh and delicious. Ill be back there too.
Tonight we went to get gelato at a place called Art-o-polis. It was really good. Minus the fact that I killed a cockroach on the patio. Anyways. FYI I am not wearing make-up in these photos and my hair is slicked back..eh.
I wouldn't be a diet coke monster unless I tried the good stuff in a cute mini glass bottle. I got pistachio and mango. mmmm.
Patty looking so eager.
Example of my photogenicness. This really cracked me up so i had to put it up.
Cheers!
I don't know if you can believe it but I can't believe it that we've already been here for a week. New York time is an odd thing..It goes so fast yet feels like its been forever.
WAH! I want to be in your cute fuchsia shoes! I'm glad you are enjoying yourself so much. Half of an internship is just the life experience. The other half, of course, is hoping you love the profession you're exploring. Makes me miss D.C. and my intern days...
